For some reason I found it amusing watching a good rider pretending to ride badly. What an honest horse for jumping some of them while Angus is flopping around on top.

I thought this was a very well made video, and Jojo I totally agree about the horse being really honest whilst being deliberately badly ridden.

However, I did feel that the video pretty much stated the bleeding obvious! Although I have been riding for over 20 years, I would by no means consider myself any kind of expert at riding cross country, yet I did not really learn anything new from this video. Surely it goes without saying that you should approach fences in a balanced and controlled manner? And if you can't get the horse to do so, then you need to go back to basics and sort out your flatwork and bitting arrangements!

Are there really numpties out there who do BE competitions and ride that badly?

(Actually I can answer my own question having watched the novice championship showjumping at Gatcombe this summer, and being genuinely shocked at some of the riding on display)
