Hi!

Question in the title really, I've only ever jumped BSJA and I know when you jump BSJA on a ticket you're not entitled to any prize money or rosette if you are placed.

What is the position with BE? Considering affiliating eventing next year but wanted to do a BE80T on a training pass before the end of the season. If we were to be placed would we be entitled to a rosette? Do they offer prize money at BE80T level as well? If so are you entitled to that or is similar to BSJA on a ticket?

Thanks

With BE you can get placed and win prizes with a ticket - though eventing is not known for their prizes and it is at the discretion of the organisers whether there are prizes at 80T. They do not usually award prizes at 80T, though my daughter did get a discount voucher once. You do get rosettes though :)

Does it matter? ;) You know what you've achieved and what you've been through to get there so a naff piece of ribbon is surely a 'by the way', or...?? If you're 'pot-hunting' BE is not the way to go......at ANY level.

Thanks LJR!

It doesn't matter as in as in having a 'ribbon' it's just nice to receive something that recognises your hard work! Although of course you'd know what you'd have achieved its nice to stick a rosette with a photograph for special occasions, first time BE eventing or winning your first fox hunter class for example!

Haha no no definitely not pot hunting! Not my style, definitely more about having fun and improving our partnership! That's always what it should be about isn't it :)

Yes - you are treated exactly the same as full members. Only you, BE and the entries secretary know you are on a ticket rather than a full member which is how it should be imo.

Good luck, enjoy and you may get a headcollar or grooming brushes as well as a rosette if you are lucky. No money tho'!

Thanks guys. Really appreciate your help!

Out of curiosity what is the prize money limits for BE? If it goes well at our BE80T I might affiliate next year (with his owners permission!) but I can't find anywhere on BE website what the prize money is for 90/100?

Ta x

As far as I am aware, you don't get any prize money at BE90/100 level, just a rosette and a nice prize if you are lucky.
Tbh the prize money isn't great once you get to novice level as most of it is at the lower limit. I came 2nd a few weeks ago and only got about £68.00 which didn't even cover the entry fee, let alone getting the horse there! However, it is better than getting nothing.

There is a table in the rule book that shows the prize money levels/limits for every class. At 90/100 prize money can be substituted with non-monetary prizes, which is what usually seems to happen.

Oh, and it has to say in the schedule for the event what the prizes are to be, i.e. in kind and lower/upper limit.
