Hi all

A few of us are going on a beach ride in a few weeks, we cant decide on Shoesburyness or Cudmore Grove, Mersea Island. I have googled both but would prefer riders experiences of both.

thanks x

I have been to Shoeburyness quite a few times and really had a great time. Cant compare though as never been to Mersey.Shoebury you can have really long gallops.

I walked along Mersea Island tonight and there was hoof prints in the sand....I was very jealous seeing that seems like a nice enough beach though it was getting dark and tide coming in way too fast this evening.

Was it busy there? I have a young horse and im slightly worried it is going to be noisy with lots of cars, people..thats what comes to mind when i think of southend! x

mersea is beautiful, think i may be swaying more towards mersea xx

I went to Frintion-on-sea last weekend. It's a lovely sandy beach. Parking is great along the sea front. You (obiviously!) have to go at low tide because of the sea breaks (? Sorry- i can't remember what they are called!) - but they are small enough to trot/jump over! :)

The only trouble i had was dogs..... I had a few chasing us which upset my horse. But i don't mind when the owner is running after them too! But i had one woman who let her large Alstatian come up to me twice with out calling it back- she seemed to be looking forward to the moment her dog attacked us. I ended up having the shoo the dog away myself, which luckily worked, and i did let her know my feelings about the situation!

It did spoil what was otherwise a massive milestone for myself and my horse!

Agree with Dottie, Frinton is lovely..Jaywick beach is nice for riding on too....not such a nice area but the beach is quite quiet!!
