Very excited to be going on my first beach ride next week, weathers going to be gorgeous!

Any top tips for a first timer?

I've checked the beach website for times you allowed to ride and will aim for low tide. The website says no loading or unloading in the car park?

Going to pack a change of clothes but any other essentials needed apart from the camera of course!?

:)

Goggles! I have a picture of myself (that I actually love!) riding along the beach (my dp), only thing is, I have my eyes closed because all of the sand and salty water getting flicked into my face!

Admittedly I did do it on an atrociously miserable day, so it hopefully won't be so bad for you :D Have fun!!

Have fun first and foremost. It's awesome!

But do keep your eyes peeled when/if you decide to up the pace. My little man has scattered dogs and their owners who have suddenly appeared from behind dunes! The thunder of galloping hooves can be drowned out by wind/waves/gulls.

If it's your horse's first time too, you mind find that his/her eyes are on stalks, especially if venturing into the shallows!

You'll have a fab time! :)

Here is my big lad having fun on the beach

We walked ours down to the sea first, they pawed the water, had a roll in the sand and a good look around, then back to the box for a brush down and tacked up, brilliant, we now tack up after unloading as they now know what to expect

Watch out for sudden changes in the beach i.e. sand pools etc. Fresh water to wash the salt of kit.
Hat camera if you can borrow one.
Take lots of pictures to share upon your return.
Lots of water for the horses to drink when safe after the ride.
Most of all have fun.

I wouldn't aim for low tide, aim for an hour or two before low tide so that the tide is on its way out while you're out there. Remember that the tide doesn't come in evenly, and if it's on its way in then as inlets fill up you could find yourself cut off even with a lot of beach left.

Respect the sand. It can change from firm to deep in a blink so be careful.

Don't run over stray children and try and keep away from Joe Public with their kites and dune buggies and general numptyness.

Most importantly, remember to enjoy yourself, take lots of photos and buy an ice cream :)
