I'm wanting to take my mare to the beach in the next couple of weeks somewhere not too far away. So far I've looked at Hayling Island, Hampshire and Shoesburyness & Cudmore Grove, Essex, as these are all about a 2 hr drive away. Has anyone ridden on these beaches? I dont want to be stuck with having to ride at ridiculous times and cant go in October when time restrictions ease off.

Can anyone recommend anywhere to stay local to these beaches that will also take horses? Or any other beaches in Hampshire / Essex or even towards Bournemouth? We'd only want one night, or any livery yards / riding schools that might let us hire a box for a day should we just do a day trip.

Thanks in advance!

Hayling Island, Hampshire Thanks in advance!

You have to be very careful with Hayling Island, indeed any beach really, you need to know your tides at Hayling because the sandbars are only rideable when the tide is going out, otherwise it is stones.

You need to get off the sandbars before the tide turns, Several horses have drowned there over the years because riders got it wrong. I would contact local riding clubs or riding centres on Hayling and get some advice before you head off so that you can use the beach safely and enjoy your ride!
