Beach Riding in Yorkshire- Anywhere Good??

We are just south of York and head over to Fraisthorpe Beach near Bridlington. Lots of nice smooth sands for good canters; just watch out for the kite surfers near high season! Easy access to beach from parking (cliff-top field), small charge for parking if in 'summer' months. Not allowed during school holidays but I'm taking mine on sunday for a bit of a blast; as I figure it is back to school time now!

Also suggest Fraisthorpe & I think is it theddlethorpe (?) Our local is cleethorpes though - easy to park & massive quiet beach, we take the girl & pony quite regularly & they love it! xx

Haven't been for a few years but the north end of Redcar is brilliant, not least because the car/lorry park is right next to the beach and as someone else has already said, there is often a burger/food wagon there so refreshments before and after riding!

There are chemical factories nearby, but they don't spoil the wonderful exhileration of riding on the beach.

Oh, another Yorkshire beach I've ridden on is at the south end of Filey. There's a car park down that end of the town which pretty much leads onto a wooded track which goes down via a ramp onto the beach. Very scenic and lovely. I think the riding there is limited to evenings during the summer, but any time during the winter, but I might be out of date with that.

I used to live on the North York Moors overlooking the beach at Ravenscar nr Robin Hoods bay. It was brill for a blast! You can ride at Filey (watch for quicksand!) and scarborough beaches but check when and where as they are season dependant

Another vote for Redcar/Saltburn!!!

I am lucky enough to keep my horse hacking distance from Runswick Bay - It is small but lovely. Only rideable at low tide, avoid Sundays as it's sailing club.
Sandsend to Whitby is a good ride at low tide too, avoid it in summer tho as you won't get parked. Watch out for quicksand.

Here's my top tip.... DO NOT attempt to ride on a Yorkshire moors beach on a sunny day as you will find your ride thwarted by other beach users. The BEST times go are in light rain - you get the place to yourself then!

this, but actually lunchtime on Christmas Eve is a lovely time to go - it's deserted, everyone is snowed in and you've got 4 miles of beach to yourself!
