Hi all,

Our families booked the annual trip away - unfortunately can't take pony-boy but I really need a horsey fix whilst I'm away.

This is the year I finally fulfil my dream to do a beach ride and wondered if any of you lovely people could recommend a riding school in South Wales (near Tenby) where I could go?

:D

hmm dont know of any near tenby but there are quite a few around brecon but they aee mountain rides, never used them personally so dont know what they are like. there is a good place just down the road from me that does beach trekking but its a good hr from tenby!

Happy to off load the in-laws for a good selfish beach ride..:D

One hourish okay - can you give me the details?

:D

There's a stable a little bit further west. I think it's called east nolton. If you google them, they've got a website. I've heard only good things about them. Just a bit further east, is pembrey. This is a huge forestry area leading to a long - think it's about 8 miles - beach. I had the best ride I've had at a riding school there!

I've been to Nolton, really recommend it. I did the 4 hour beach and wood hack, amazing beach that you can canter up and down as much as you like!
I went this time last year and was about 5 of us on the ride, in the summer they have up to 60 split into groups!

I went to Ogmore Farm for my first ever beach ride (south wales)

Place was fantastic, great owners and staff who were only to happy to have a chat etc, the 2hr ride leaves twice a day and I went through a river past a castle through the sea around the dunes and some woods. just as you get to the beach the ride splits so you can either canter/gallop along or have a sedate walk across the beach and dunes. The group was quite large (about 30) but there was plenty of space and staff along the way to make you feel comfortable.

If i'm in the area again I will definitely be going back!

I'm ten mins from ogmore, rob is a very down to earth bloke and horses are well kept. Also.never heard a bad experience there.
The beach is Newton, our local ride, it's a fantastic long open beach with merthyr mawr dunes adjacent.
You leave ogmore castle cross through ignore river and ride along the floodplans to the beach.

As I said, it is our local hack, and always an enjoyable one!

How refreshing to hear good stories about OF :)

ETA: the beach they ride across is gorgeous, I have posted photos recently of us riding there. It used to be a lot better before they made changed to where you're allowed to ride, but hey ho wont go into that.

You can ride at OF and then pop across the road for a pint and some grub @ the pelican - I really can recommend the salmon fishcakes, the fish pie oh and the baguettes are to die for and HUGE portions.

Not that I've been there often. OBV :D
