So, I'd like to take my horses to the beach, I live near Stamford. I know Holkham is a really nice, horse friendly beach with extra easy access on to the beach itself, but you can't park trailers there. I'v been to Saint Leonards too, but the bank you have to ride over to get to the beach can scare the horses (especially my flighty TB). Are there any other horse friendly beaches within a 2 hour drive from Stamford/Peterborough area, with places to park? Or is there anywhere else to park for Holkham beach other than Lady Anne's drive?

Not sure whether it's quite in 2 hours but sutton on sea is fab, the car park just down from the town opposite the big golf course is ideal plenty of turning space for trailers - massive beach just 10m from car park
 
Not sure if this would be suitable for you but, I've just returned from Field Farm at Mumby - we had a weekend there but you can just go for the day, park up there, hack to the beach using a bridle path - just a tiny bit of roadwork, easy access onto the beach and then there is miles of firm sand and nice level entrance into the sea. When you've had enough, you can hack back and use their facilities to wash down, turnout for a bit in you own paddock, have a cuppa or a cornetto from the shop. It really is nice. Google them - they have website :)

I took trailers as in flatbed trailers not horse trailers.
 
Holkham Beach: you can park horse trailers there, £12. They refer to them as "horseboxes" whether they're lorries or trailers-towed-by-4x4s, same as the media call them horseboxes whenever they report RTAs, or Sally Traffic on Radio2. No facilities except an ice-cream vendor in carpark.

Brancaster Beach: you can park there. Cheaper. Nice toilet block. Nice burger/icecream hut.

Holme-next-Sea Beach: there is a carpark there, can't remember if there's a height barrier, don't think so. Cheap. Think there's toilets. Icecream/drink hut sometimes open in carpark, also one sometimes open just as you get to golf course bridleway across to beach.

For all these beaches, get the tide times first. The road to Brancaster Beach floods at high tide sometimes. Intend to arrive not more than 3 hours before low tide and leave not more than 3 hours after high tide, for maximum beach size/space.
 
Ok :) thank you. Holme-next-the-sea sounds nice and quiet, it's also closer! (which is always a plus!)
 
Holme's the shortest beach - it's only one mile long. You get onto the beach, turn left and can ride to the foot of Hunstanton cliffs, no further as then you're into stony/rocky and lots of people/dogs/resort beach. At low tide plenty of space to canter up rivulets and be nowhere near any person or dog, esp at Holme end.
