Probably because dressage is FEI but showing not. Some societies and shows require strapped hats of safety standards.

Nothing wrong with a bit of tradition. None of these technical jackets or modern palaver - good old wool tweed in 25 degrees sunshine 😀
This is why I stopped doing working hunter! Nearly fainting in the heat sweating to death is just horrid and not enjoyable. LOVE my mesh showjumping jacket, its the best invention ever. Wish theyd do something similar but in a tweedy pattern to get away with for WH. Its insane what they expect people to still wear these days. And why any rider would choose not to wear a proper riding hat is insane to me.

I do wear a safety strapped hat but happy to sweat it out in my wool jacket. I have a technical one for dressage and always think it looks like a wet rag in comparison.
