Personally I prefer navy blue. Make depends on your budget. If you are feeling really flush then you cannot go wrong with a made to measure Patey, if you are not up to paying Patey prices then the Charles Owen beagler is very good, the velvet on it is good quality which makes it look more expensive, the cheapest option seems to be the Horka dressage hat, looks OK on but close up the velvet is not so nice but it is cheap.

The Pateys and the Charles Owen ones are lovely. The Horka's are ok for the price, but personally gone off mine as the shape aint great!! Would get a CO one, but doesnt fit me.

Charles Owen (they do normal and deep crown) are the standard ones - around £120. Horkas don't look as good, but are only about £40. Made to measure Pateys are nearer the £400 mark and some people never find them comfortable (whereas other people can wear them all day).

Navy blue is the standard colour for ladies and is also the easiest colour to sell if you no longer require it.

Have to agree with others Patey - or Charles Owen on a more realistic budget. I've got a navy CO think it's a 56 which I used for in hand showing and no longer have use for - still v gd condition - PM me if you'd be interested

I have a Charles Owen Beagler, a Navy one and its really comfortable! The Patey's are really nice but I couldn't justify spending that sort of money on a hat- would rather put it towards a holiday in Barbados!!

I've got my first aff test in a couple of weeks, are you all going to laugh at me in my skull cap??? Beagler is on my wish list, but would rather wait till I can afford a nice one, & she is a bit sharp, so wouldn't want to land on my head in a beagler.

I would have a look on Ebay - there are usually a few Patey's, Charles Owens, Christie's etc on there. I have a Locks hat for hunting which is navy blue and is lovely. If you buy a Patey off Ebay which is your size but perhaps not a 100% fit then you can go and see them and they will remould it to fit your head. Only if it is the right size though - they won't shrink them or stretch them hugely!!

Personally I would recommend Ebay Patey or Christie. You can't go wrong there!!
