Does anyone live in or around Beaminster who would help me with some questions I have? We have just put an offer in on a

house with some land and I am keen to find a horse to keep my boy company if/when we move - which could be within the next couple of months. I would also hope to find someone to show me the bridleways etc as it will all be very new to me and I would much prefer discovering the area with someone.

We will have 5 acres but no stables until end of the summer (fingers crossed for planning permission etc!), but will be right on a bridleway and therefore I would hope to have a couple of liveries for company etc. I may put a field shelter up initially but of course this will all depend on a) if we get the house and b) if we get the planning!!

It may seem that I am a little ahead of myself here but to be honest it is SO important to have the right home/lifestyle for Rocky that this is the first thing I have felt I needed to do!

Look forward to hearing from any Beaminster locals!

Wow! That is SO encouraging!! We have only been to literally view the house and don't know much about the area at all - except that it is really beautiful! You would be most welcome to drop by anytime!!

Thanks

We looked at Chantry Farm, lovely stone farmhouse with thatched roof; with two acres, unfortunately my OH needs to be here in the middle of the country for work

If you go onto
www.getamap.co.uk
click on get map now ( big pink circle); type in Beaminster in the search box; you will see all the bridleways marked!!

Have you had any luck finding about the riding in the area? Im also thinking about relocating down there with my horses - and whilst I know the walking is great, I have no experience of riding/hacking. Seen a lovely place on market a bit north of Beaminster, but want to research hacking/proximity to shows etc. I recall an article in H&H last year about a successful endurance rider based in Bridport - so suspect there must be plenty of bridleways around to train for that! Would be great if any folk down there let us know where the best areas are.. Will keep you posted if I find any news.
