My old gelding has been lifting his hind leg when I groom him and looking under his belly so I decided his sheath needed cleaning. Got rubber glove and cleaned large empty area, no sign of penis though it was all very itchy ,gathered by his expression!!! He did the same next time and when the farrier came!!! Soooo... on to the internet to look up possible problems and read for the first time about the "bean" that can be stuck in the penis...wow...whole new ballgame..diagrams and all. So, armed with rubber gloves and determination and udder cream to lubricate I went in search of the "bean." Finnally found the penis at the end of a very long tunnel hiding at the very end and wadda you know??? huge "bean"! Poor boy! Bean was rock hard and both it and my boy were not keen for it to loosen so much shunting around the yard, getting my toe trodden on and falling over and hey presto not one bean but more like half a pound of frozen peas!!! Wow and double wow!
Giving him a break from bean hunting for a while, me too! and await to see what happens next!
My only excuse after 40 years of horse ownership is that I've always had mares till recently. Poor boy!! Goes to show you never stop learning!
