Ok, so clipped Beastie

And we're both still alive yay! I just did her body and face, her legs are much more matted than originally thought so I'm going to do them tomorrow.

I know it won't be nice MQ, but needs must

Didn't get a good body shot, but this picture says Beasties thoughts on the matter....

Took about half an hour we had a few breaks. She was really well behaved actually

The ears were the hardest bit as she kept flicking them about!

What do you reckon for a first time?

Seriously cute dog. She looks fine.If somebody let me loose with clippers it would end be a full clip nothing left. That's why my horse always ends up with no hair ......

She looks good, glad you left her beard. As a matter of interest are show schnauzers hand stripped or clipped cos their coats seems to have a different texture to her clipped coat?

Show Schnauzers are always handstripped; pet ones sometimes are as well. However, miniature schnauzers are so difficult to keep in good coat. Over the generations they have been bred to have thicker and thicker coats, which often equates to softer (you should see the inside of their ears - they are so hairy and hard to pull!). So as a groomer, I myself won't handstrip a pet one unless the owner can commit to rolling the coat weekly themselves -- and as yet, I have yet to find a pet schnauzer owner to can really do this (though I'm sure there are some out there that do a fantastic job of brushing and could roll a coat too). This would take about an hour a week on top of brushing/combing the furnishings.

The OP's dog is a cutie. It all ended without blood, so that's a good start! They often as a breed are a pest when it comes to doing ears, so am not surprised that she was flicking them about. And never fear, while it won't look great clipping down the legs, it's much kinder than trying to spend ages dematting....and it does grow back!

Still think that the bald look is best

No really, she still looks like a schnauzer.... still seems to have two ears, two eyebrows and a beard.....

Lack of body shots are a bit worrying though.... have you something to hide????
