I posted yesterday about my new loan horse being VERY reluctant to leave her field, and planting endlessly, resulting in her having to be reversed out of the field and up the path.
This morning, i went to see her, and her fieldmate had gone show-jumping. The little toad trotted up to me as i came through the gate, and walked beautifully next to me out of the field and up the path ! So obviously, part of the issue is that she doesn't like being separated from her buddy.
Funnily enough, her fieldmate seems to be one that DOES form strong bonds when turned out with one other horse, because i had the same problem with this horse forming a very strong bond with my old horse, and they were a nightmare to separate. At our old yard, Ella and her fieldmate were out with a few other horses and they were fine.
