Just thought I'd share some pictures of Beau, my 7yo, 17.3hh IDx.

This is what he looked like when I went to view him as a 17.1hh, 6yo last summer.

He was very green and I eventually admitted defeat, so in January this year he went to my jump trainer be schooled. He was supposed to there for 4 weeks - 11 months later, he's still with my trainer and my other two horses have joined him. :tongue3:
I didn't ride him for 5 months due to being injured and it's been a bit hit and miss since getting back on - I seem to spend more time on the floor than in the saddle because he's got such a big, powerful jump. :o

So, while he was being re-schooled, we put a ridiculous amount of feed into him to get him looking like this:

He did his first BS show in January with my trainer, starting at british novice, and they've been pretty consistent. Blair was a highlight as Beau qualified for the final and came second at his first stay-away show. :smile3:

18 months later, Beau looks like this (with comparison picture from when I first got him home on the right) and he's like a different horse under saddle.

I used to have to used the arena walls to stop and he wouldn't stand for anyone to get on him.
A few weeks ago I took him to the beach in a snaffle and he was perfectly behaved. The jumping is still a bit hit and miss but that's down to me forgetting how to ride. :o
My trainer has high hopes for him - I think the aim is to jump fox hunter classes until Beau is more experienced and then try a 1.30m at home to see how he copes with the technicalities.
I just want to get round a course and still be in the saddle at the end of it. :tongue3:

Just to show how enthusiastic he is - fence is 1.10m. Photo taken by a friend so I have permission to post it.

thanks guys. :smile3:
trainer reckons he should be good for local GP classes if all goes well.
he's my horse of a lifetime - I very much doubt we'd ever find another horse like him if we were to look for another jumping horse.
He's so easy to jump - just point and go and then hope the superglue keeps you in the saddle. :tongue3:
