Since the clocks have changed, I can no longer ride in the evenings. So this morning I dragged my lazy bum out of bed and went for a ride before work. We can nip round the block in about 25 mins if we don't plod and it was a perfect little ride!

My pony is arthritic and has been out of work most of the summer unsound...in the last 6 weeks he has come right after lots of trial and error of supplements, half a danilon a day and slow, gentle hacking and I am making the most of it while I can.

We are very lucky to have quiet roads and plenty of off road riding and this morning with the sun rising over the frosty forest it was just perfect! Brilliant start to the day.

Anyone else done the same?

sounds lovely ! i did try this this morning as well, but our first proper frost seems to have altered my mares mind. Im sure everything would have looked lovely, but all i could see was black mane and ears being thrown around in front of me ! Might take my just broken 4 yr old tomorrow, shes more sensible !

It was an exceptional morning wasn't it? It was almost light at 6.15.

We live at the bottom of the downs and the mist was hanging in the valley. When we got to the woods, the frost had brought down all the leaves and it was like a golden carpet. The dog was trotting on ahead and it was so peaceful.

Sadly am at work now and my peaceful mood has been shattered :D

I was planning to go this morning but my mare was in an " interesting" mood, cue bucking and galloping around. Then she decided to escape out into next doors field full of dartmoor hill ponies....cue more galloping around, tail in the air and having a great time!! By the time I got her back she was breathing so hard I thought she may collapse :D so abandoned riding plans!
Off to work in a mo aswell :( boo x

Yes great morning in my neck of the woods this morning too, but with the first hard frost they were having a serious hooley round when I got there. Gave hay before going out and both were really good then. Saw a stunning stag in the morning light too.
