Congrats to Erin O'Shea of the USA and her dog Zambo vom Riedschlurgi, who won the title of Universal Sieger 2011 in Austria last weekend.
Zambo collected most combined points between a full Schutzhund trial (tracking, obedience, protection) and a show rating for conformation.
Erin owns, trains and handles the dog herself and I believe he is her first ever competition dog.
Hoping these types of events, which aim to re-unify the two 'types' of German Shepherd will become more widespread! (Although I would have preferred if a grey had won it )

Some people are never happy, remember a good dog is never a bad colour! A great result for an owner trained and handled dog, so nice to see that rather than being sent to a professional.

I thought it was a horse is never a bad colour, yea I suppose it can apply to dogs too.

That girl must be really dedicated as an amateur and the dog must be really rather special too.

I had a peek at the training for this discipline with a view to trying this for myself but its too much for me, but admire others who are more dedicated.

*sigh* OK, he was the most handsomest doggie at the show and he is the doggie who can do the best 'sniffy on the ground and find things' stuff, the best at 'walking beside his owner looking happy' stuff and the best 'stop-the-bad-man-and-let-go-of-him-when-you-are-told' stuff

I wanted to do SchH with my GSD but the nearest club is about a 90 minute drive away and I just could not get there during the winter when the horses are all in.
I wish it was a greater in popularity in this country.

My friends used to do an eight hour round trip every week
