I'm the same weight as I was in that photo although I haven't ridden in a year. I'm not going to pretend I won't be having a few rides on him. I'm aware I'm too tall but I don't think I'm too fat (do feel free to pm me if you think otherwise but I don't want this to turn into one of 'those' threads)

Anyway....my point....

I would love to start driving and I think he'd love it (as does his owner/my friend). He works very well to voice commands and I've done a lot of long reining etc in the past and old loan pony was broken to drive and I drove her a few times. I will be getting tuition but I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips/advice/thoughts on how he'd suit it. Any recommendations of how to get him ready to introduce him to a trap and people to help me (I'll be in Chesterfield) would be fab too.

In fact just plain any wisdom would be awesome!

Maybe contact The Red House, they're about 20 mins from Chesterfield. They might be able to give you advice and put you in touch with local people to help out. It's where I learned to drive, many moons ago... though Mrs Boss-Lady used to terrify me as a kid :D

ETA: Just did a quick google to make sure they're still open and they actually have a *very basic* website now, with contact details:
