Bed sore? Fungus? Any ideas?

My horse has had this stupid ... thing ... on her hip for at least half a year now. My vet has looked at it and he thought it was probably a fungus. He suggested scrubbing it with betadine which I've been doing ever since. It seems to keep it from getting worse but doesn't resolve it.

It's flaky, doesn't seem to bother her and doesn't spread. But it drives me crazy! I have her bedded as deeply as I can but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I tried anti-fungal ointment but that made no difference whatsoever.

Any ideas on what I could try next?

tea tree oil, neat - found it works wonders. About 4/5 drops and massage in gently. Hope that helps !

in that case, I'd really get the vet to do a skin scrape, and find out what you're dealing with... tt is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and everything else.. my other suggestion is to post this in the vet forum. sm xx
