what bedding do you all use? at the moment (well, when he is in, currently hes out 24/7) hes on shavings but i was looking to see if there is anything cheaper (i mean, we all like to save some money right?!). he is pretty clean in his stable.
i was looking at Allbed, its the cheapest my local tack store do (GJW titmuss in herts) & is £6.12. anyone used this?

I used all bed before, fairly good, tended to stay in place well with my box walker. I got it at £4.10 a bale though, so shop around. That was from wynnstay. I know you can get it direct too.

There are two types of all bed the flakes and the dust (can't think of what it called) but you mix a 1/4 bale of dust to bed every week or so too aid absorbanse if you have a really wet horse, found that it wasn't needed though

I use wood pellets now wouldnt change to anything else. I get mine from liverpool wood pellets, i order 1 tonne at a time in 15kg bags, worked out at £3.43 (ish) a bag and you get 67 bags. I have one very clean horse who has one bag in a week and my other one is very dirty and she has 1 1/2 bags in a week. Price includes VAT and delivery, cheap as chips and very quick and easy to muck out :)

I was using pure shavings, then switched to pure wood pellets. I prefer the look of shavings, but prefer the functionality of pellets...so this year I have put down a mix of the two so I'm getting the benefits of both.

I put down a good layer of pellets, dry, then a bag of shavings on top. As the pellets broke down they mixed with the shavings nicely....the shavings keep it looking White and fresh, the pellets keep the bed nice and absorbent and stop the pee getting spread.

I've now banked the edges and add a couple of handfuls of shavings per day to freshen up, and a bag of dry pellets into their pee spot once per week.

I'm using one bag of shavings between them, and one bag of pellets each, per week.

Though actually this latest nag of shavings has lasted nearly two weeks between them!

I use comfybed and absolutely swear by it....costs me £5.99 per bale and lasts for ages as they're big old bales. Superb stuff
