Bedding

Shavings - cheap (ish) and easy to get hold off.

However, am going to be buying rubber matting shortly because my horse is very messy and I'm trying to reduce costs. I'm currently using between 3 and 4 bales a week.......

easibed or cushion-bed on rubber mats. Bought in bulk (minimum of 4 pallets a time) the cushion-bed is really cheap especially as delivery address falls within the cheapest delivery radius! I prefer it to shavings as seems to give a firmer bed that does not move as much. Not to everyones liking though.

We just changed from free straw to paid-for shavings on rubber mats because we have to muck-out at weekends and three horses take a ton of time. We now just sprinkle the shavings into a thin layer and sweep out the whole lot every day. We don't use a lot of shavings (are thinking of trying hemp to be british and green) and it so sooooooo easy and quick. Love it.

Just changed back to straw from shavings and i hate it!! Tinker was on shavings incase he decided to eat straw bed while he had stitches holding his lip together (not nice) but he's on full livery and yard uses straw, i was buying the shavings myself! Would much rather be diy and buy shavings all the time!
