Bedding?

We have rubber mats and use bliss bedding. Our farrier first recommended it and it's great. We have our horses at home and after trying various different types of bedding found this to be the most economic whilst being good for the horses and keeping the muck heap to a minimum. It smells nice too

I use easibed and find it great. Mucked out for my friend who uses shavings at the weekend and nearly chooked to death on the dust. I've just converted another friend to easibed.

Equisorb, its expensive but if you use it correctly it saves time and is cheaper than shavings in the long run! its easy, non dusty and light and doesnt stick to horses manes and tails! its also similar to aubiose, which is pretty much the same and cheaper, but you have to use more of it to start with. (we use both with rubber mats anyway so we dont need that much)

Do the horses use sawdust area for loo and lie down on just the mats?

No matting. I use cardboard because it's completely dust free and the TB has COPD. The fell also on cardboard because there's a grilled window between their stables and I don't like the idea of dust from shavings or straw travelling to the TB's stable.

the sawdust is spread all over the mats (just a small amount) thye use the sawdust for both the loo and lie down and they all lie down on them and are happy to pee on them as well.

p.s. they will lie down and do the loo even if there is no sawdust

I use shavings....one bed gets a little dusty at this time of year, but the other is fine......I think the pony must box walk a bit more when she wants to be out! They are out 24/7 normally atm, so it doesnt matter....only in for the farrier, or when it is toooooo hot!

I would quite like to try a bed of equisorb but I dont have enough room to store a whole pallet of it!
