2 horses, one messy, one not, no rubber matting, full bed, full muck out daily on chopped dust extracted straw. Clean one uses 1 bale a week messy 1.5 bales a week (both in 12x12 stables) out from 0600 to 1800 daily

Interesting that the majority use mats and the majority use straw.

Does that mean people are using straw over mats? Only ask, as I thought this did not work very well.

I used to but it smelled terribly even in a well drained stable. handy in that it was cheap, she could eat it if she got hungry and was quite quick to muck out.

I've swapped onto LWP and love them, wouldn't go back.

I have very thick veterinary grade mats & have one horse on shavings & another on straw. Both only have beds at the back. Despite having heard that straw can become slippery on mats, I haven't found this to be the case.

I have two messy horses both with full beds, one has Megazorb and the last of her shavings mixed in and I use a bag of megazorb every three weeks, the other is on straw and I use a bale and a half a week, I semi-deep litter them both taking the wet out of the Megazorb bed every two weeks (about half a barrow) and out of the straw bed every other day.

Melly is currently out 24/7, but when she was in she was really clean, semi deep littered and on cushion bed with a sprinkle of shavings - Use cushion bed for 3 weeks and then a bale of shavings on the 4th week.

I have two horses, one very mesy mare, one quite clean gelding, both have mats and 1/2 stable of bedmax. I only use a bale a week for each - messy mare's bed gets quite thin by end of week but she has the mats and very rarely lies down! I tried her on straw but she just ate it and then coughed. Each bed takes about 10 mins to muck out every day, I do a full muck out.

I answered for my stabled one

Clean, mats, shavings, one bale - however its acctually more like a bale every 2-3weeks.

Considering putting the little one on straw when she comes home until I get her some mats and my big one on wood pellets.

I've got rubber matting and use two bales of shavings a week. She's in a massive stable (about 14 x 12) so I said bed just at back but actually she's got big banks and half her stable has got shavings.
