Hi

I am currently using safeTbed on top of Equimats but I dont really find it that absorbant. I have a small but thick bed at the back of the stable for my horses to wee on but the wet seems to spread so I end up throwing quite a bit of bedding out on a daily basis.
Does anyone else have this problem with this bedding ?

Has anyone tried Flax or chopped straw ?

I can only have a small manure pile so normal straw and shavings are out of the question.

Can anyone recommend a good product, that absorbs the wet and keeps the muck heap minimal.

Thanks

Sam

Flax is great, I used equisorb which was good, now use jopack as local feed merchants stock it at a good price. from trial and error with the worlds muckiest horse, I find it easier to use flax at the base with straw over the top.

Chopped straw by itself on mats is not that great but better than normal straw for soaking up wee. I use Dixons chopped straw mixed 50 - 50 with shavings for Cairo - nice bed in that it is absorbant and a little cheaper that pure shavings. It also looks a fuller bed with this mixture.
