Depends on whether you are mucking out fully or deep litter. I don’t like mucking out shavings but latest yard has mats and a thin bed with banks which is mucked out fully every day and floor replenished from the banks. Takes 2 bales of shavings but beds are very clean. Not all miscanthus is the same but I thought was good for deep litter as didn’t move around if you had it deep enough

I hate mucking out Miscanthus on its own as it's so dense I can never get the fork through! I prefer doing a deep later of it on the bottom and then topping it with a couple of bales of shavings.
