Ok so this week didnt start brilliantly. I sneezed at work on the monday and managed to prolapse another disc in my SI joint. Great!
I have been in agony all week, thank god for my prolite back support otherwise i would have been horizontal all week too!
Anyway, i had my elementary and medium champs on saturday and was determined on to miss them. So as long as i didnt lift/bend/walk etc i would be ok (lol!)
Poor dee had to carry me a little, which was good for her as she is having to learn not to rely on me so much. The elementary was elementary 40, which actually is a rather nice little test. I rode it very conservitively(sp?) i didnt allow her to do the medium canters as 1) i didnt think my back to take it and 2) i didnt want her getting too hot. I only allowed her to do extended trot for a couple of strides, going for quality over quantity. I was pleased with her and we scored a respectable 64% coming 5th.
Next was medium. By this point my legs were going a bit numb (!) but i was determined to ride only my second ever medium test, medium 64. We started off so well, scoring 8's and a 9! Came into the half pass left and my back just gave way. We stopped as i almost burst into tear in the pain but i was determined to finish this test. Poor dee, my back would not allow me any kind of lateral movement and she found it hard to go lateral with me blocking her. So i decided to miss out doing the lateral work and had to go rising.
It was a bit of a shambles and she went very hot at one point. But i calmly spoke to her, gave her a pat and made her continue (a big learning curve for her). We finished the test and everyone applauded, the judge said how sympathetically i rode delicia and she could see how much pain i was in. We scored 5 0's for the movements that i didnt do, i missed out the canter on the right rein as i couldnt give the aid, but i didnt care, i used the expereince to school delicia. We came 3rd with 50%, the winner won the class on 55% so im a little gutted as we would have won, but oh well.
Despite the pain, it was worth it. I have two lovely rossetts, a medal and fab memories, and whats better, my horse is growing up and learning to ignore outside influences and finished both tests despite many different questions. I am so proud of her.
I have pictures in my facebook album here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150326875505978.339595.670970977&type=1&l=55876eeb59
