Hiya
Wanted to go to Woburn Sands this wkd - so called the permit people and have to buy a years permit but it runs out end of Augusut this year

So forget that - will buy one for 'next year' i.e. Sept09-Aug10

Anyway. Just want to throw nags onto trailer and go somewhere. Want lots of bridleways / open grassy bits for cantering. Don't mind the odd bit of roadwork but nothing excessive.
Me & my horse are happy to do upto 20miles

... but dragging my mate along and think she'd happier around the 10mile mark

Need a carpark or just somewhere suitable to park without a height barrier!

Any suggestions?

That's a pain. I thought they did day passes at Woburn? We were hoping to go at some point over the summer holidays.

Can't think of anywhere else as don't know the area very well. Was thinking of Salcy Forest but if you are closer to Herts I guess that would be quite a way for you.

Milton Keynes is criss-crossed with sandy horse trails which are great, lots of places to park up- though choose carefully as security is a worry. How about the Quainton Hills (you would just park on the side of the road) or there are lovely bridleways in the Chilterns (I used to ride around the Ibstone area) Oh, also join Chiltern Distance Riders for organised rides! We did a lovely ride around Ashridge, there is lots of parking there.
