I've been looking for a job all summer and have finally been offered a full time temp role until the end of Jan, but it could be made permanent if I play my cards right.
This is brilliant as the job centre have been a nightmare and refused to give me any money since August, so I've been living in my savings, so even just two months of earning will help loads!

However.

It means the end of my lovely time sharing Idiotpony. He already lives 90 minutes from me and my job is an hour in the other direction. He's kept at a DIY yard with no facilities for riding in the dark and only a spare field which we've been asked to keep away from to give it a rest (fair enough)

But I'm heart-broken. I loved the pony, I've never had anything so young and green to play with and I've learnt loads riding him. I've even attempted my first jump in 15 years on him. I've stressed to the Owner that I'd keep on going if only they had the facilities. I've turned him from a stroppy bucking, napping pest to one that can leg-yield and half-halt and performs a lovely w/t trot and I was hoping to crack our canter and try our luck with prelims soon.

I have three more lovely days to play and then I will have to say goodbye :( :(

Ps, sorry its massive, I don't know how to re-size.

oh bless you, lifes so hard sometimes but when one door closes another opens once you start earning and if u become permanent would you be able to get you own? x

I'm not sure I'd be able to afford too. Back to looking for another share I think!!

I'm happy I've got a job again but I've gotten so into my routine its going to be bizarre putting a suit on instead of jods!

Firstly, well done on the job :) It may only be short term but you never know what it may lead to and any work on your cv has got to be a positive thing.

Secondly, really sad about the share, but you never know what will happen - keep in touch with the owners, pop up there is you can in your spare time, and if you find yourself without work after January hopefully you'll be able to pick up where you left off.

Work must come first, but its bittersweet I know :(

Congrats on the new job. :D Such a shame about your share, but I'm sure you will find another one fairly easily. Where abouts are you based?

Thanks :)

My jobs in Essex, South Woodford, I don't know how horsey it is by there but I live close to the Kent borders so will be looking somewhere near there and Essex I guess!

Ooh, do they have adverts up or anything I could have a look at? I've had a bit of a google for yards near there but not much is coming up in the area, mostly around Epping Forest way.

Are yards accessible by public transport? I don't drive :(

No idea how close to Colchester that is, but you'd be more than welcome to come and have a play with mine. I'm looking for a rider for one of mine, but she won't be brought into work until the spring and will be a handful. I wouldn't expect any money, and the right person could definitely compete her BUT it will be a lot of time and work before she gets to that point and she is v. v. sharp. :o
