Went to a local hunt's opening meet and the secretary asked me to adjust their bridle, which I did, this led to asking why I wasnt mounted. I explained how my lad is only 2 so isnt even near to backing age yet let alone getting out hunting.
They then explained how they have a 13.2hh Highland who is in need of a rider and I would be most welcome to him.

The worry I have is this...I am 5'8 and 10st4 - wouldnt I be huge on him?! They assured me I would be absolutely fine but I wouldnt want to look ridiculous!!

Honest opinions please!!

Quick! Take her hand off! - Or else I will come down there and do it for you!
;)
So jealous!

As previously said, I think you will be fine - and if the owner thinks you will be fine, why not give it a try!?

I think I will go and see him and see how we get on!

Have seen a few pics of him (jumping, driving & showing) and he's an absolute stunner. If I don't look utterly ridiculous on him then I think we could have a lot of fun :)

Bite her hand off to ride it!!! I'm the same height and weight and feel positively over- horsed on some highlands! They are FAR bigger than their height suggests!

I'd be amazed if you felt too big on even a smaller highland pony.

Whether you can stop it out hunting is an entirely different matter ;)
