Been to see the loan pony,

Went to see my pony who's out on loan today, a bit dubious as just my skeptical nature, but had a fabulous time, lovely hack, he is really settled in and seems happy, got shown his field, hapy enough he's not out with the others but practically is, he's generally happy and whne riding I was amazed how laid back he was, happy to go on and pulled once to follow but happy to be pulled up.
I feel a bit guilty because where he is stabled one of the girls pony is out of action, her mum has asked my mum and the loaner asked today ccould she ride D in the dengie. I said no, he's never got round the dengie, barely ever got round 90/1m, hasn't jumped above 85cm courses in 5/6 years. We've overjumped him in the past, he enjoyes small courses (70-80cm) but I really dont think
a)he would do it,
b)he needs to do it.
Feel mean though as I know he can appear to jump well at home but won't out.
Family agree with me, people who know what he/I've been through with him agree,
should I say well yes take him but pull up when he has had enough?

Also, how often do you go visit your horses/ponies out on loan?
I was delighted with how well he is so don't see any real need to visit again before next year, as I'm sure it makes loaners nervous!

If YOU dont feel hes the right pony to do it then youve made the right decision, at the end of the day its still your pony!

Dont have any out on loan yet, but would say that after a few visits i would go with gut instinct how often i would go see it.

i'd explain to them why you don't want him jumping, perhaps let them take him round a smaller course, just to see how he reacts?

Smaller is no problem, jumping is no problem. Have discussed it with family members tonight again and they all agree he wouldn't do it and there is no point, so just sticking with original answer!
