would love to hear feedback from previous entrants.. From what I undertsand they will not be holding a final so to speak this year, as they did last year.
Many entrants that were awarded first premiums at the regional evaluations last year had them revoked at the finals not sure if that is the reason they are not doing it this year and/or if it was caused by differentiating standards of judging, anyone?
Just keen to know the standard and experince of the judges that will be assessing the best of Britsh!
I had a filly by Painted BlackxDon Schufro who was awarded a first premium in the dressage section and a colt by Dallas High JinksxToledo who was awarded a first premium in the eventing section and was the highest placed event colt. I took him to the finals and he ended up with a second reserve or whatever they call it. So he was still the same horse but he went from being the highest placed event colt to a second whatever. The qualifiers were great, I went to Arena UK as it was my nearest, but the finals were a complete shambles and I can understand why they have stopped doing them. Everybody was confused as to what their rosettes actually meant and most were not too happy with any part of the day including people who had done very well. The organising was not too good and nobody actually seemed to understand what the criteria were!!! This is only my experience of it, other people might have found it better but I would do the qualifiers again but not the final. It is better to do the BD, BE or BSJA young horse classes, they are better run, people know what they are looking for and they are structured with "proper" finals.
there are different judges for each section, experts from chosen fields, there all on the website i know that sandra briddlecombe is one and so is jennie l-c.
Im showing two foals for my boss and i cant decide whether to take any of mine, would like to just so there evaluated at to see whther if its just me that thinks there gd
I would say the qualifiers were worth going too, there was certainly a range from amateurs with homebred youngsters that were not too good to professional's and big studs with youngster's with top breeding. It was nice to see the diffeence in foals that were obviously bred and turned out in a field 24/7 and the foals that had been produced and stabled from birth (they looked like you could ride them at yearlings!!). The judging was very fair but don't be intimidated as you will find there are lots of big names and stud's there with their future olympic prospects!!! I have been doing YH classes for quite a while and I find it nice to see which stud's produce the best and what their techniques and training include, it is also nice to see these horses a few years down the line when they are out competing and see which ones come out better, it is not always the first premium foals that turn out to be superstars!!!
Thanks, found the committe list but not sure if that is the selection of who will be assessing the individual venues? Very keen to attend as seems well laid out.

I think you have to go to these with an open mind as like showing classes they can be rather subjective. What I don't understand is how one judge can give a foal a premium, then in the same season another judge gives it a 2nd whatever that is. They are a good show case for studs and professional breeders though
they generally dont tell you who will be judging until you get there.
Done the YHE series for the last 2 years with 4 yr olds. The orginisation isn't great and they aren't great with timekeeping.
I personally recived some comments at last years 4 yr old finals to make me stay away in future and stick to BYEH or BSJA etc.
But if you've got something large and flashy your in or know all the judges your in aswell.
rather like gloryfied showing unfortunatly
