Evening all!

I thought this thread might be a bit of fun but also serve as a little reminder to all how our efforts can change a horses life in more ways than one!

I love to look back at pictures of when some horses arrive looking slightly ugly duckling and then looking at the transformation to swan.

Now not all horses have a big transformation, but thought it would be nice for people to post their own before and after shots they are proud of. Could be anything from condition, flat work, jumping.. Anything really that you can sit there and think 'we did that'.

Mine was today with my youngster, I came across his advert picture (left) and then a recent one of us on the flat (right) and was really pleased with how far we have come so far! Now it's not perfect by any stretch but I'm really proud of how he's trying. After 2 short months of being over from Ireland.

Please post your own!

Gorgeous pony!

Here's Dave the day he arrived, a little teeny 3 yr old off the moor.

And now, a great big chunky boy.

Quite happy with L, bottom is before and top is after (~4 months difference between the shots).
She still has a great deal of filling out and muscle building to do. Next comparison will be in a few months after winter :)

ETA: She was likely started in a too narrow saddle (before I bought her), so we're slowly dealing with that atrophy, its gotten better even since the after shot was taken :) Can't wait to see what she looks like after a year of sympathetic schooling in an appropriate saddle!

From this: a cut and shut horse with a ewe neck, cellulitis on both hinds, mud fever on both fronts, a medium gullet saddle..

8AC7827F-7E8F-4902-BF42-8F933F4BBA37.jpegTo a rather handsome (I’m biased) horse who was working long and low but was super tense in this photo due to it being his first show, fixed his issues and was in an XW gullet here.

Took around 8-10 months.

When I got her, very fat and a bit spoiled to 6 months later just finishing being broken to drive, looking a bit weak and unfinished

When we realised she could jump this spring

And now, fat :( Shes muzzled and monitored so carefully but the grass this year has been insane. Shes till pretty fit, she trotted nearly 7kms yesterday in 24 degree heat and came home ready to go again. She has abs that any gym bunny would be proud of, but we just cant seem to shift the flab this year!

Bought Mary in November 2017. She wasn't what I was looking for at all but she came home with me because I felt sorry for her. Shes gone from being 13.2 to just reaching 15 hands and is such a sweet mare who loves cuddles and has a very busy mind. She loves to learn and work, can be quite anxious sometimes but is never silly.

Mary when I brought her home November 2017. She was a scrawny little cob, very underweight under her matted coat and full of worms.

Mary summer 2018, happy as Larry and just about to be backed

Mary June 2019, overweight but fit and happy, hacking out 4 times a week and some light schooling. She's an amazing mare and so worth the risk considering she cost next to nothing, wasn't pasported and took three hours to load 😂

Arriving at the RDA aged 10 after a considerable time in a field - he did then lose a bit of weight, grow a tail (sweetitch) and look less like he had no clue about anything:

This March (3 years after the photo up top) and after I'd had him 9 months:

Currently he's fatter than I'd like but fit. Like LW's pony he is muzzled when out and generally ridden 5x/week with 3 of those being long hacks but the flab is not shifting.

I can't find the photo now but I saw one of my lad with his former owner. His head looked gigantic:D I think it was because he was scrawny. It doesn't look quite so big now that he has muscle :p
