Went to see some horses at the weekend. One I tried was a 4yo (I am looking for a youngster) it was OK, it then put in a massive spook (leaped a couple of metres to the left in a flash, no warning). I sat it no problem and just circled him back past what he spooked at and carried on with trying him after a cursory 'Are you OK' from owner.

Emailed the owner today to say he is not for me, he was a bit smaller than I wanted when ridden and not really forward going enough. But politely said thanks but no thanks. Got an email back saying yeah we didn't think you would, you were both too novicey for each other!! Grrrrrrr, now even if she thought I was a novice, which I am not, you don't bloomin well say it!

Lucky I have some ego boosting friends who have seen the vid of the spook and said how on earth they thought I was a novice as I had sat it!

Just a pointless moan really but off to see another one tomorrow on recommendation of my dressage trainer so fingers crossed :)

Rude! Just rude.

Obviously just annoyed because you didn't buy the horse, and not intelligent enough to hide it and show some manners :)

Good luck when you look at the next one!

LOL I wouldn't take it to heart, sounds like the seller is just a wee bit bitter at not having made a sale! :)

agree with the others.... she s obviously been desperate to sell and is dissappointed . Nobody would say something like that unless they wanted to offend someone!

Just a little barb at you (and her own horse, incidentally) for what she might see as wasting her precious time. People are strange aren't they;). Don't give it another thought:)

How very rude! I'd be offended, what a cow! I hope no one says anything like that to me as I don't have any horsey friends to tell me otherwise :-/

ooo rude, lol.

Send one back saying, yeah it wasnt how novicey he was, I just didnt think he was all that :p

Without knowing how you ride I don't see how anyone can answer that question

How many stories do we hear on here from sellers complaining about potential buyers overestimating their ability? I would rather a seller be honest, and calling someone 'novicey' is hardly the worst insult...

No offence OP, you may well be a fantastic, experienced rider but how would any of us know that to judge ;) :)

Good luck with your horse search!

I would reply with :-

"Oh my friend saw the video and was VERY interested in the horse, i was going to give her your number, but she rides very similar to me, thats a shame"

HEHE I would have to get the last dig!

Totally get that Rhino (tbh I thought I would get more posts like yours! :D ), however whether I am or not it is quite rude to say so, if she thought I was that novicey she shouldn't have offered to let me jump her novicey 4yo :)

Still people see what they see and I know my limitations and am quite honest about my ability to sellers, no point in lying.

Like the last post about the friend I would recommend, what makes that particularly pertinent is that it was not a private sale so hardly doing her business any good.

That said, nice horse :)

Thats what I got from your OP. Novicey or not, why be off to potential future customers?
A 'thanks for letting me know' is perfectly adequate :)

Rhino...why?

How do you find stuff like that? Did you find it accidently or actually type that search into Google? :D:D

Too cool Rhino, too cool, I can't wait for my next dude, love shopping!! Can't wait for Bramham, have actually money to spend (including £100 towards new long boots from loving dalring daddy!).

Those hat covers are just awesome :) I want the big yellow pufferfish to add to my hi viz collection.

My mate actually made a jousting outfit for her sons horse just like the second ones, very cool!
