Ok- so yes im annoyed this evening...

I was unable to catch my mare (for the first time ever) because her baby decided to constantly tank off everytime we got to the gate and hence mum turned around and tanked off after her.

Im wondering how attached i am actually to baby at this point and debating whether i should sell her, i wont be experienced enough for her when shes older in reality.
Also debating selling her mum, who also in reality is a green 6yo who im useless at schooling because im very much a novice myself.

-i have an LOU mare i cannot ride and is effectivelty eating my money every week, her yearling who will be too small for me to ride anyway and has another year of growing before anyrthing happens there (she will be loaned, shes not mine to sell)

Im bitter and annoyed tonight and im wondering whether to sell them both and a get an experienced alrounder?

(for those that dont know, this pregnancy was unplanned)

Realistically from what you've said I'm tempted to say sell the lot (partly cos I want your coloured baby) but I do think you're only saying it cos your in a bad mood - you wouldn't believe the number of times i've posted a for sale ad for mine when she's wound me up but you'll soon change your mind. give it a month and if you still feel the same it might be time to sell.

Aww poor you...... you feel down in the dumps tonight

You will have people taking your hand off for either mum or baby as they are both beautiful..... your LOU horsie is a bit more of a problem though

and you sound like you will sell her baby if its going to be too small anyway....

With the money you would get for them all you could afford a nice little schoolmaster that would help you learn as well.

I did the same and bought a very green Merlin as a 5 1/2 year old...... I hadnt really ridden for years and was never a very technical rider anyway.... hence we do everything fairly badly

Mind you he is a lovely horse and I wouldnt swap him for the world..... just wish that I was better equipped knowledge wise to do him justice!!

Whatever you do, remember ..... it is supposed to be fun, and if it isnt, you are doing something wrong!

Good luck with your choices.

Don't you dare sell that mare and foal!

I've seen you ride her and you were fine, handled her on the pleasure ride when others had to go home. I would say you haven't got a problem with her and you will be getting more experienced all the time. If in four years you still don't feel experienced enough to break the foal then you can always send her away to be broken.
As for the others, maybe selling is your best option as you will be able to ride the mare again soon and it might be better for the yearling to go to someone who's confident enough at the moment.
It sounds to me like you just had a bad evening, the foal is bound to have silly days and mam is just feeling full of herself - rightly so having produced that little stunner! There must be something in the air here at the moment because T was quite naughty too!
