Being so far up North is annoying sometimes!

I look at horses for sale online, they sound great until I get to the location. Kent/Sussex/Cornwall/some other southern place - no good when I'm in Scotland!

Just a rant! I'm tentatively horsehunting and most of them are so darn far away! I'm not even after anything high-flying, just a nice safe 15-16hh chunky person to hack and small shows. If anyone fancies doing some horse shopping for me, as far down as South Yorkshire-ish....I've got vanilla ice cream and rich tea biccies?

Well, if you can do a trip down to this lady in North Yorks to try a few I would recommend her Her horses ime do exactly what it says on the tin, she always has sturdy types in and will try to match you up if you are honest about your requirements/needs

Edinburgh - budget maybe 3-3.5k at a push?

I can travel a reasonable distance though, no more than about 4 hours hopefully!

LOL! It's funny, my OH is Scottish and he thinks Nottingham is "down south" - I lived in Lincoln and think of Somerset being "down south" - he probably thinks it's on another planet!!
