Seeing as I always report on Asbo's parties I think it's only fair I do the same for his sisters.

A small bit of family history, Red aka Asbo is by NF Stallion Furzley Lodge Benjamin out of a mare called Springmoor Samantha. He was born on the forest and as a young colt he would follow his soon to be owner when she was out on her morning run. She eventually traced his owner and bought him for the pricely sum of £80, which tbf is a fair amount for a forest colt but in the grand scheme of things wasn't a lot!

The following year the previous owner decided he didn't want to have ponies on the forest any more and so offered Red's owner his dam and older half sister Bracken, who is by the gorgeous NF stallion Moortown Nobby.

Bracken, not the best photo but she is a bit of a minx to get close to!

The following year Sammy gave birth to Star, who is also by Furzley Lodge Benjamin and so is Red's full sister. The year after that Sammy had a chestnut roan filly called Georgie, who is by another NF stallion Hedgehopper.

Sammy has was brought in off the forest a couple years ago, she's an old lady now (22 I think) and she doesn't do as well as she used to so she gets spoilt with lots of hay and hard feed over winter and a nice barn to shelter from the elements. Bracken is still on the forest, we were going to bring her in with the last years drift (the nf pony round ups) but owner was busy that day so we'll probably wait until this years one. Star came in as a 2 yr old and Georgie as a weanling.

So thanks to Asbo being a very inquisitive PITA colt owner now has a total of 5 ginger ponies!

On to the show report....
We had a very lesuirely start, I didn't get up to the yard until 10.30. We quickly shaved beards, tidied manes and bathed Star and Georgie before loading up (and making sure we had all required tack and equipment ;)

The first class was the forest bred. There was a lot of nice ponies there as due to the wet weather nobody had ben able to get any runs in. Both girls were entered and they behaved well and I was a little disapointed with the first pull in (i think they Star was 7th, Georgie 8th out of 12) as although they were my no means the nicest I thought Star deserved to be above a couple more but that's showing! The first 3 were stunning, especially the mare in 2nd who had a foal at foot. Unfortunately said foal was very excited to be out and after lots of bouncing upset rather a lot of the other ponies, including Star who would not settle for her owner. They were finally pulled in in their original placings, fair enough as they were so excited by the foal and as such their behaviour wasn't as good as it could have been!

Georgie was in the next class for 3 yr old foresters, I didn't see this as I was riding Star in the novice ridden but I am told she was very well behaved and got moved up a few places after her individual bit so although she wasn't placed we were pleased.

The warm up for Star wasn't ideal as there wasn't really anywhere to warm up due to the amount of lorries there. I managed a couple of trots in a straight line and that was it! At first she called a few times to her sister who was calling back in the other ring but she soon settled and went nicely. Other than the day before when I had a quick ride in the school on her I hadn't ridden her since she was backed last July so I pleased she still remembered everything. We were up against several welshies, a dales and several other foresters. She did everything asked of her and I admit to being a little disapointed in being pulled in 5th but we still had our individual bit so it was all still to play for. All I can say is I was so pleased with her, she felt very grown up and did a fab gallop. We were moved up to second, behind the wonderful welsh C stallion who went beautifully and had a couple years on Star who was by far the youngest having celebrated her 4th birthday the week before.

So other than the first class where the ponies were a little distracted by small bouncey one it was a good day out. I will admit to not really enjoying showing, partly due to asbo and I getting thrown out the ring at the forest county last year for bad behaviour! But it is a great education for the younger ones and it's great to see everyone elses foresters, especially the forest breds who really are improving in standard.
