Believe it or not - but I'm rather excited!

I don't generally "do" excitement LOL!! But I feel butterflies in my tummy as I write.

I'm off to the Foal Sales shortly and am hoping to pick up 4 or 5 weanlings. I don't really know why I am particularly excited as I don't normally feel anything about buying horses.....and from the short-version of the catalogue I'm not even sure there will be any of the bloodlines that I like there.....but I'm sure that won't put me off entirely LOL!!

My 11 year old daughter has been backing a couple of boarding horses and she has saved enough money to buy herself a weanling that she is planning to raise over the winter and then sell in the Spring as a yearling - perhaps that is why I am all light-headed? I'm very proud of her - my little entrepreneur.

good on Megan...no wonder your proud of her, working for her dollars.......most just hold out a hand!! lol!

i get a tummy turn when i got to sales occasionally, not sure if it's excitment though...more the thrill of bidding at an auction...still gets the blood flowing after all these years.....

Well she can be a holy terror at times....but when it comes to dealing with young horses I have to say she is totally invaluable to me. She does all the rubbish things that I can't be bothered doing (teaching them to pick up feet, handling constantly etc). That means I can just take them from her and start proper training with them. I do pay her for it too, although I pay her in "child money" - whereas my boarders pay her in "adult money"

. I don't think she has ever had this sort of money before in her life, bless her.

I have to go now and will try to keep calm till I get there LOL!!

I understand the "not getting excited" part, as it takes something profound to get me anywhere close to giddy.

How fantastic that she has saved her own money to do this. I find that it is so much more fulfilling, when you know that they have worked for it. I hope she finds one she likes and as always, plenty of pictures must be posted!

Thanks you guys. Well I am totally exhausted; not too sure whether it is because I spent so much money, whether I am so happy for my daughter to have bought one of the sweetest little colts at this sale or whether I am pleased to finally be home and have all the babies settled. I am so tired though.

My daughter bought a lovely Appaloosa; sorrel with a beautiful blanket spot (actually it was the one I giggled at needing a new set of legs

). I tell you though, this little colt has grown loads in the few months since the photo I uploaded onto here and he is a beauty! I think he will be a tall horse - possibly 16hh so of course now she has him home what do you think she is going to do with him? Just as I thought - she wants to keep him. So I have said to her that she has to pay for his vaccinations and his gelding and then after that I will pay for everything else. Who knows - she may sell him. I know fine well with his breeding and his conformation she could sell him tomorrow and make a very sensible profit on him....but I am fairly convinced she won't sell him.

I bought ......wait for it!!!! 2 palomino fillies, 1 grullo colt and 1 buckskin filly. VERY pleased with all of them - they are the QH lines that I absolutely adore - so I know they will be absolutely fantastic horses when they are big!! I was absolutely thrilled to bits to see some of the really expensive foals (priced on websites of ranches for thousands of dollars) at the sale - and I could afford them!! I am so so happy!

Very tired tonight and need to go to bed, but will take some photos in the morning for anyone interested.
