So my first day with my beautiful new girl today, and we had a lovely time
Yesterday's journey was a nightmare!!
The traffic was terrible and it took us 4 hours to get there
but thankfully only three on the way back. All in all though, it was about 13 hours from setting off and getting home,
so my word we were jiggered last night.
I didn't even make it home and passed out at mum's, hence the slow update. However, she loaded and travelled just perfectly
Good as gold, and despite the warm day and long trip she bearly got warm.
She unloaded still full of beans but was well behaved, and by the time I came to leave her with her supper she was being very quiet - bless her.
This morning she neighed to me the second I walked round the corner and kept looking out for me whenever I was out of sight, even when mum was with her, so I think she knows who I am
The grumpy moo allowed me to catch her too, so I don't *think* I am in bad books yet!!
Believe had eaten lots of hay, but messed up her bed considerably and was a bit tucked up, bless her. Although a touch excited when I brought Star in to the yard, she went quiet and stood quietly as soon as I went in the box with her, which made it a lot easier than I thought it was going to be trying to sort out some tack to fit her etc. So we finally got all tacked up and went for a ride with mum and Star
The only problem we did have was mounting, as when she came out the box, she was very much on her toes (hardly surprising) and didn't want to stand still for a few minutes. I was prepared for this as her old owners had said that is the only thing they could fault her for, and it only happens at competitions/excitment and she soon settles. Sure enough, I kept asking firmly to stand up and managed to leap on after a bit and we were off. Not so good that a few feet from our from gate today someone had a cement mixer going
but we got past ok and although she was a coiled spring for the first little bit of the ride, once she settled she walked along bootifully
Only a couple of small spooks, and plenty of "scary" things she was very brave about. By the time we got back she was actually riding very much like the horse I tried out
So I am thrilled.
She had her wormer this morning and so I hope she can go out in a paddock next to the grumpy moo later in the weekend. I think *touches wood* Star quite approves as she didn't pull faces at Believe like she does if I ride Henry alongside her
So, here are a couple more pictures as promised, like I say, she was a bit tucked up after all the excitement:
Complete with a smudgen of proof that I wormed her
(which she was very good about btw)
So I am happy, happy, happy, still
And am off again shortly to tuck her in for the night with her tea and grovel to Star some more
I shall take some more proper pictures tomorrow when she is that bit calmer and happier standing still
(Star had already gone out to play when there were taken hence her staring ahead like that)
Oh, and seeing as I'm so paranoid about Star feeling left out, here's a couple of pics of her taken last weekend
And look, not always so grumpy
But shush, don't tell anyone:
Thanks for looking
