Well it was our first intermediate so scary stuff.
He warmed up like a star and was moving nicely for him.
we went into the spooky arena and he was a bit shocked by all the tents. he was unsettled and in our first halt he stepped back then cantered on half circles in trot, in medium trot towards the scariest of the tents we had a head like a giraffe and our shoulder in ws useless. i thought our rein back was pretty spot on but only got a 7 for it

so we got 40 which wasnt too bad but he could have done a lot lot better.

I hope this is a link to a pic of him doing dressage?

Then we went and stayed the night with some lovely people and Shay had a lovely stable to sleep in.

Back in the morning for sjing. well my sj warm up was horrific as all these people were changing the jumps as i was cantering in! of course only their little darlings matter in the world so i was a little stressed to say the least.
went in and i was ok until we got to the fence where i knew i had to kick on to get the distance and what did i do...HELD.
i am officially rubbish and have become so defensive
frown.gif
i hope its just a phase that i am going through and i will come out of the other side.
. anyway we slammed into the fence and then we had the first part of the treble down as he was oh so scared by the tents near the corner and so we got 8 faults and 10 time. i seem to be able to jump foxhunters just obviously not intermediates?

hopefully a link to a sjing pic

I walked xc the day before with Caroline Moore and she said that she thought most horses would come home clear! she was a little bit wrong. it did walk very nicely EXCEPT all the questions were the ones that Shay hates.
Onto xc- set off fab and was fab till we got to the logs in the wood. i checked him and he came back too much and was suddenly in trot
shocked.gif
so cat lept the log and then we couldnt get to the next which was on a tight turn on 3 strides at the other side of a tree. woops!

jumped the water fine and was a bit sticky through the coffin again as he came back too much. flew trakhener and the large rails ( which luckily seem to have shrunk!) then fine through the angled double thing. then to the arrowhead and i checked him, again he came back too much so i kicked him on but then he fired and so had a run out.
frown.gif
oh dear. my bad riding, we seem to have lost our bouncy canter, its either firing or dying
confused.gif

onto the sunken road thing and he was foot perfect. flew the table and next brush but then came to the brush box thing and he slammed on the brakes! oh dear so i was eliminated woops
anyway he did quite well and we know we can do it, we just need to get our bouncy canter back. but the problem is he is fine xc schooling
confused.gif
hmmm. oh well, all experience!

sorry for the long and rather depressing report, luckily you dont have to read it if you dont want to!

Oh dear

!

Perhaps if we all look hard enough, your 'bouncy canter' wil turn up again. Lost things always do in the end.

Want to share my glass of wine???

I think he looks GORGEOUS doing his dressage
smile.gif
. And 40 for a giraffe sounds pretty impressive when I got 40 on Friday for a reasonable test....
confused.gif
.

Pop him back to Nov for a couple of runs, find your canter and try again. Maybe a 'normal' int section would have fewer 'mummy's little darlings' in it?
