I feel so ashamed that I beleived the other sides story and i make a full PUBLIC APPOLOGY TO THEM , BEN AND KATH...SORRY I DOUBTED BOTH OF YOU , the situation is very clear now that I now know what really happened. xx
Have no interest in this case but how on earth can you say that if its just based on what the mail said. It was one side of the story and unless you know these people and know otherwise ,to the layman I don't think they came across very well, the lady doth protest too much is a saying that comes to mind.
Just because they were profiled and acquitted doesn't mean they are without blame, it might be that the groom in question is not as articulate at getting her point across and I would defy anybody not to become confused and muddled when dealing with top flight barristers whose sole purpose is to denigrate the opposition.
As for their comment about grooms can't ride and aren't rich enough so the only way to get on is to sleep with riders was not very professional either, particularly when British SJ'ers in the main look like inbreds ( with the exception of James Fisher, Rob Macguire and Tim Gredley ) so thats not a very attractive or appealing way to climb the ladder. No-one is naive enough to think it doesn't happen but to say so in print was very derogatory to hard working grooms who want to do well through their dedication and love of the horses.
IMO opinion all this article did was re-emphasize the decline of British Showjumping and the morals and ethics of those within it, they came across as silly spoilt kids determined to have the last say. Yet again the only publicity for jumping is negative.

Negative publicity is better than no publicity.
And having been on the circuit(eventing though) I do know that she wouldn't be the first groom to 'climb the ladder' by sleeping with a rider. It goes on...

well said !!! As you can see it was one side of the story and unless any of you were there then i dont think you can comment !!
I havent actually read it but if they said that about grooms its disgracefull as there are many hard working grooms out there - that are very good at what they do and without them these riders wouldnt be where they are today !! I bet the grooms know far more about every horse in the yard
Agree re bit about grooms, rather below the belt from Daily Mail!!
I am sure there are some gorrms that do act like they describe.... BUT there are a lot of highly proffessional grooms that are excellent riders in their own right!!

Am I the only one that thinks that there is an incy wincy bit of truth in that comment?
Agree with whoever said the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle however we all know what some women can be like over ex's and how some find it hard to move on. However I'm sure K isn't purely a victim.
No offence Stacey but I don't think it matters if we were in that pub/beer tent that night or not, only Kathleen, Megan and Ben know what really want on throughout the whole thing.
Did anyone find the juxtaposition of the "sexy" photo Kathleen and the photo of Megan in quite ordinary clothes very suspect? I don't know any of them or what happened other than it sounds like a dreadful mess, but my God, i wouldn't have thought Ben M. was a sex god worth fighting over, but what do I know..... ).
I found the comments about grooms in general insulting, misogynistic and in bad taste.
personally i agree with severn miles. i think the mail piece was rather one sided and having been the victim of a very vicious and completely unfounded rumour which in fact Godiva published on this forum recently so on one hand i have a certain sympathy for Band K and on the other i think both parties should be allowed to speak their piece if someone is going to write a story like this.
B,K and M are the only ones who really know but i suspect a little too much alchohol was involved somewhere and in the cold light of morning i bet at least one of them was sorry and wished it had never got as far as it did.

no offence taken but i was to and know exactly what i saw - also the next day at Hickstead in the members stand !!
How hilarious; using a Mail article to "set the record straight"
Aside from the derogatory generalisations in the article about showjumping and those who work in the industry,
I would have to say I find it amusing that B& K have clearly done the article to defend their reputations and in fact, IMO, they make themselves look a throughly undesirable, unlikeable pair
Nothing in the article convinces me that they are, as they claim, the innocent victims in all of this - they seem far too desperate to paint Megan [along with grooms in general] as thoroughly awful and themselves as completely innocent.
I'd imagine that the truth is probably somewhere in the middle of the two stories, but IMO Ben and Kathleen have done themselves no favours with this vindictive "pity me" story.
I haven't followed the story , but my husband says he may be older than Ben Maher , but is better looking , so where can he get himself a lingerie model ?

he may have to win some major classes first like the Derby !!
This whole thing has me cracking up. First thing was that she was offended by being called a blonde bimbo which was next to a picture of her in her underwear with her legs spread. Don't really care who is right and wrong but its jolly good reading... very Jilly Cooper.
Also, wasn't Lucy the youngest on the equestrian squad, not Ben?
And I just nearly spat out my coffee from laughing at that picture in the kitchen. Lets hope they stay in the limelight, this is hilarious reading.
