Benefites of joing a riding club ..

Just wandered how many of you are part of a riding club and if so what are the benefits? Im Norfolk located and really want to start getting my horse out and about to shows and having some with him.
However i dont know many people in my area and would really like to have the opportunity to meet people and gain new expereinces...although i have ridden for many years, im relatively inexperienced in the competition world and would feel a bit lost o where to start with him
Do you think it could be beneficial to me being part of a club ? Im just a bit apprehensive as heard that they can be very competitive and ive never been part of anything like that before!
If you could advise me on any experiencesyou have had...good and bad i would be really grateful - just so i know what to expect!

I'm in two clubs and they have helped me alot. They both offer brilliant trainers at very, very good prices at good arena and locations. Charges go from £13 per hour group lesson to £27.50 for private lesson 45mins. I've just been on 3.5days camp lots of training and brilliant food for me and ggs.

In my arena they offer good schooling for very young horses, inexperenced riders to riders want to go places. Plus they do offer good area competitions, if you win areas you then to do very well at championship as i'm in very hot area!!!

But if not in comps, mine still offer good fun rides and social events as well so cater for all very well. Go for it

A lot depends on the club you choose. Some can be very competitive (and quite clicky), whereas others are more friendly and down to earth.

As I keep my horses at home I find being a part of a club allows me that socialisation with other horse minded people that I otherwise lose out on not being on a yard. I'm on the committee too, which has helped me to get to know lots of new people, and even if I don't compete I get a lot of enjoyment from helping organise and run the events.

Best thing would be for you to attend a few training sessions that your local club run. Many will allow non-members to attend, but at a greater cost, and those that don't allow non-members to attend, may at least let you go to one to "try".
