Mum took Bentley over the vets today and the outcome frankly looks rather bleak
For those who are interested his history is in my old posts....
He had a coffin joint block this morning which didn't make much difference to his soundness so the vet kept him at the practise all day and have done a navicular bursa block this afternoon. Critically in order to ensure they block into the NB directly they need to xray whilst doing it; it was what they found on this x ray, compared the x rays done in June, which have confirmed his problems
On todays x rays they have found two bone chips (compatible with the field accident) which weren't seen before, and also a big increase to the amount of inflammation in the coffin joint. They don't know which particular problem is causing the lameness (the chips or the inflammation) or if these are masking additional problems
The vets has recommended steroid injections and a month of box rest but after this amount of time, the previous intravenous steroid, the remedial shoes and the overall lack of improvement shown with several months of box rest and limited grazing, he thinks it is unlikely he will be fixed. I am totally gutted.
