I decided to take Boo for a nice quiet walk (in hand) around the arena today, as a calm introduction back into work... We managed a couple of circuits of the 25m x 45m arena before he got terribly over excited about Lord knows what and we had SERIOUS bronc-o-rama! Somehow he got away from me and went on a serious snorty showboat about the arena

I had a mixture of real panic that he would disrupt the lady having a lesson in the other area

and fear he might do something stupid and go lame again

- but at the same time a real admiration for how nicely my boy can move

...Fortunately after a minute he got the fizz out his system and I was able to catch him and resume calmly walking

Fingers crossed (A) he stays sound and (B) I wont be judged too harshly by my new yard for having temporarily lost control of my big eejit horse !!

Aww thanks for the replies!! It is nice to know I am not alone!

Yesteday he was naked but for his headcollar and leadrope (it genuinely was meant to be a casual wander about!) Today- having learned my lesson- I decided to perservere but prepare for the worst by putting on 4x brushing boots, his overreach boots, his bridle, his lunge cavesson and the long line (and wore a pair of gloves) because I really didn't want him to (A) get hurt or (B) think he can get in the habit of getting away from me!! Obviously after all the effort of getting him ready today he walked like a total lamb next to me
