Went really well!! He was a real poppet

Details and a few piccies here

ETA please don't be overly critical of our turnout- I know he should have been in a pelham, should have his tail pulled, should probably be shod and I definitely need an image overhaul, but it was his first show ever and my first go at showing- so please be kind :)

I think he looks lovely. Maybe a bit to clean next time find a muddy puddle for him to roll in (then i will feel better about my dirty grey)!!! Hope you both enjoyed it. Surely that is all that matters?!

Thanks for the reply Gleek :)

Yes indeed taking part, having fun and getting some positive exposure for my green horse is all that matters, and I am chuffed to bits that we achieved these objectives :D :D :D

...I just felt that I should add the disclaimer about our turnout to save the HHO Fashion Police from pointing out that we look like we happened across the show on the way back from a jumble sale  :o :D

Cliqmo, that is one nice horse, you should do well in hunter classes, as a bit of a showing geek, I'd be proud to take him in the ring !
Don't worry to much at this stage about your turnout just have some fun with him, if you do decide to keep going down the showing route, just take a mental note of how other people/horses are turned out and slowly add one or wto new things to your turnout.

Thank you for the lovely comments!! I was chatting to a lovely lady in the ring today (who was fantastically modest about her horse then when on to win our class, the ID class and the Championship at the end of the day  :D ) and she gave me some great tips too- aren't you showing lot lovely?! :)

Where abouts are you in Hampshire? I'd be delighted for someone else to show him ;) :D

Not to put you of us showing lot, but I'd have to say most of us are lovely, but there are some real horrible people out there to, I've been ridden off many times by some rude intollerable persons, who then sulk like mad and slate your horse off at the top of there voices outside the ring after the class when your horse has beaten theirs ! Wish they'd get a life !
I'm about 10 miles from Winchester (towards Guildford) up the A31, if you need any help/advice just ask more than willing to help :p

He is gorgeous, and the idea to add a bit at a time to your turnout is a good one!

Where did you get him from?

Aww thanks :D I got him from near Weston Super Mare from a lovely lady who'd bought him at Priddy Horse Fair  I've posted this photo stacks of times before, but just incase you missed it....

OMG thats the first time I've seen the photo of when you got him. You must be really proud of yourself & him, what a transformation, you wouldn't know its the same horse ! I'm gobsmacked ! Well done ! :D

When I saw the first pics from the show I thought maybe you had another horse BUT this is the same Bentley as this pic ^^ ?

I take my hat off to you for the work you have done with him. He is absolutely stunning now and his placing is well deserved :D :D :D

Yay :D How lovely :D:D:D

He (and you!) are my inspiration - I loved the signature you used to have showing the changes in the lad :D

I've found that it's getting the top line that is the hardest part, that and not piling on too much weight.

Bentley is a star :D

And I love his face :D :D :D

Aww thanks for the lovely comments!! :D

I'm really pleased with how he has turned out, in particular how calm he is and his fab 'workman' attitude- he really is a poppet :)

MrsM how is the dizzy one now??

He looks lovely and an amazing change. Used to do a lot of in hand with my old boy and had a lot of fun and made some really good "show" friends on the Wiltshire/Berkshire/Glos/Somerset region. Good luck with any further comps with him.
