I lost my beautiful boy a month ago , my mare has been eith him for 9 years ,
She has completely changed temperament, won't let me bit her ,touch her head or face ,keeps turning her back on me when grooming .
Won't have cuddles .I'm going every day to give her attention, being kind and patient when trying to put bridle on ,as she just throws her head up ,mouth clamped shut!
This is not like her atall ,she's on her own now ,and ted the other horse was
Allways there watching what ever we did with her . I've clipped her because she was scratchingbherself on the tree that he used!!!
She has started to call me when I come in the field gate so I guess that's good?

I'm so sorry for your, and hers, loss.

Sometimes things coincide, something might've occured healthwise with her, which gets written off as that it must be part of her grieving/being alone.
Or it is related to her friend being gone. You say that she's on her own now, but do you mean on her own but with other horses within sight, or do you mean on her own as in there's no other horses nearby? In either case, she needs a new friend that can keep her company during the rest of the day when you're not able to be with her.
