Went to berkshire county show on saturday.......it was MASSIVE! We went for the young riders olympia qualifier.
It was drawn so had to ride the boy first. Hes had a sore mouth recently and so had to ride him in a hackamore. He was fine in the warm up class, but was a bit spookier in the main ring and I didnt have enough steering! So we had a run out at number 2 - we sort of went straight by as he wasnt really listening. Jumped a few more & retired as no point carrying on. Not his fault so didnt mind, he was jumping really well.

My mare jumped FANTASTIC! I was amazed (and with myself I didnt get nervous which is unbelievable for me), shes very spooky & only 6, but she wasnt at all scared, jumped round like a pro. Had 4 faults as I ballsed up a double but she jumped out of it bless her, and finished 6th in her first 1.35. Chuffed to bits but tiny bit sad as only one pole away from Olympia!! Still, it was my fault but makes things look rosy for next year with her !

Did anyone go at all to watch / compete ?

Hi,

I was there to watch, saw a bit of the jumping but spent most of the day trawling round the shops. Got two nice rugs for winter. We did see the Shetland Grand National too which was very funny but felt sorry for the poor kid who fell off!

Sounds like you had a good day too, shame about Olympia but next year sounds good!

Well done - what a shame you missed out though - although as you say, bodes well for next season!
I went to a weekend caravan party with Toby whilst the hunters went to Newbury! Had a good day - the LW won and was champion, the MW won and the small hunter won as well! The connie was second in the Olympia and a friend of ours qualified for M&M Olympia class. Good day all round and I missed the whole bloody thing!

Tigers eye - Thats exactly how I felt! She has done some 6 year old classes, she did the 6 year old ones at Scope and jumped fab, just a couple green mistakes and rider errors but they dont half stick them up in the jump offs. Shes having a nice long winter holiday starting next week, which I think is very well deserved!
When they put the pics on the website I'll stick them up.
and FMM - well done sounds like you had a great day too !!

Well done course was beefy!!

Went grooming with some people.. yearling had two 1sts and went hunter youngstock champ, then friend had a 2nd (poss qualifier RIHS.. can't understand shedule!) then had a 5th. Then friend of a friend qualified Olympia M+M!!
