Things are going well, he’s been hard work at night but significantly better than week one was!
He now gets let out and put to bed at about 10.30. He barks for about 10 minutes and then sleeps.
I then go down at 3ish, he go’s straight out, wee’s and is back in bed within minutes. Again barks for about 10 minutes before sleeping.
I then get up at 6.15, he was quiet and I think he heard the taps going so was always awake when I came down, sometimes making a bit of noise, always very excited.
The past 3 mornings though he’s been barking like mad at 5.45, I came down thinking he might need to go out but he is just wild to play, not interested in doing anything other than hurtling round like a little loon.
I am keen for this not to become a habit! It’s only half an hour earlier than I get up but I don’t want or need to be up earlier, I don’t want him walking my daughter as she’s currently working 60/70 hour weeks trying to save for a house deposit and it’s not really fair on her (although to be fair she said she hasn’t heard him!)
So, as he appears not to be busting for the toilet do I go down when he starts or do I ignore him til I’d usually go down anyway?
Several people have said recently about adult dogs and having to be up at the crack of dawn and wishing they hadn’t started that as puppies.

I would go down, not engage other than send the pup out for a pee, possibly on a lead so he doesn’t go zooming off in play time. Back inside and straight back in the crate. No speaking other than out, in, bed, go for a wee etc. there’s no reward to him other a wee.

I’m so glad Rew isn’t an early riser! 🤣

When I go down in the night I literally open the door, no play or fuss. He gets a biscuit and back in.
5.45 is just a weird time, by the time I’ve come down there’s really no point in putting him back.

I’ve been so lucky with the others! They’d stay in bed til lunch time I think 😂 I was waking them in the winter when I went to do horses!

I’d ignore, or if you can’t then as STR says out, wee, back in and go away and leave him there even if it’s not worth it. He’s starting to early train you!
At least the mornings are darker now.

I’m certain he doesn’t need a wee. Usually he’s really good, day or night I open the door, he gets to the grass and wee’s straight away.
This early morning call is simply to play.
So far my daughter seems so knackered she says she doesn’t hear the 3pm shouting so I will ignore for a bit before going down.
Thanks :)
