The gelding went really well this morning. The vet gave him a bit too much sedation

I had to keep tapping his chin to stop him from falling over!

I spent about 4 hours afterwards watching him to make sure he was OK. Im going back up in a min to feed them and make sure he's OK.

Thanks for all the advice and help last night

I remember when my boy had a bit too much sedation!

"He's going to go down" I told the vet (a very experienced stud vet - who I actually do still use and recommend!)

"No, I haven't given him enough for that"

"Believe me, he's going to go down!"

"No, he won't"

Next moment, yep, you've guessed it - the boy nearly toppled over sideways. The vet and I somehow just managed to move ourselves into position in time to brace both of our bodyweights against the boy to keep him upright - and had to stay there for a good five minutes.

We had a good laugh about it afterwards, and I'm pleased to say the the op went very well!

Glad all went well - I have a big sign outside Cairo's stable stating minimal sedation required - he may be a 16.3 clydie but he only needs the amount you would give a small pony.

Ha ha, when my jessmistor was gelded it was literaly me and Sara holding him up, bloddy heavy little feller!! He went down a few times too. Jesse was two weeks from totaly wild and it was brillant watching him come around from the sweetest, dopyest thing back to his arugmentive, terroising self! The next day he jumped 4'9ft over the fence (I was ill and stupid childern thought in my absences they'd take the 'pony' for a walk - barely halter broken at this point) and he ripped his cuts right open

(and casued totaly maddest and all the livery horses came in dripping in sweet and hopping on one leg

) he's been nothing but trouble ever since and I cannot understand how he is still with us; no sene of danger. My point was (apart any reason to talk about Jesse) they are sooo much lovelyer ( Just come out an exam - am allowed to make up words) on drugs

when I had my little pony (11.3) sedated to clip her, the vet stayed with me whilst I clipped her, cos she had had *so* much sedation he thought she was going to colapse!!

He laughed and said that she must be *really* frightened of the clippers when she hasnt had anything!!

I shall be rugging up more this year and give the clipping a miss I think!!

LOL, they are funny! He was snoring! He fell on his knees on the way out of the stable, and very nearly fell over a few times whilst being done.
He's feeling very sorry for himself, and wants lots of kisses and cuddles!
