Hey guys, please could I have opinions on the best balancers there are out there! I'm currently using Blue Chip Original in winter..

Planning to change to Spillers/TopSpec Lite Balancer or Baileys lo-cal (after reading them through and looking at whats included) for my highland who gets fat and young (rising 5yr old) horse in moderate work..

Think I may need a original balancer for my 8yr old? Will be competing most weekends and is ridden daily and in a lot of schooling....

What balancers do people use/like best? or should I stick with Blue Chip? Are there any cheaper out there as good haha!

They're all good doers, the highland gets fat on fresh air but is 19 now.

Opinions would be appreciated! Thank you

Hi, I've tried a few different balancers and the one I've had best results from is GWF Equilibra 500. It's cheaper I think than most of them and I've found it really really good on two relatively good doer horses in work, both decent at maintaining weight but the equilibra helps and really helps the muscle tone. One of mine can't have soya so that limits but have to say the other does better off soya as well. One of mine is rising 8 warmblood and the other a 13yr old connxtb (mostly conn). Hope this helps.

I'm sure rather unsure on balancers, I'm currently on topspec lite due to getting some free bags but before that was using equimins advance complete which when u compair any balancer to the equimins it honestly makes them all look very poor instead.
I also think they are very over priced considering the amount of byproducts within them and again the equimins is linseed based so no wheat feed, oatfeed etc which most contain, plus if anybody can answer this I would be greatfull, in one brand name make and prob a lot more as well, classed as grain free so all they use is the outer husks, well that's the part that receives fertilisers, pesticides etc.

Food for thought maybe.

Have used Blue Chip Original in the past but always gone back to Spillers Lite in the end as we think it's brilliant.
I use Spillers Lite Balancer for one of my ponies who is prone to weight gain and laminitis and I also use Spillers Original Balancer for my 5 y/o.

Top spec is excellent. Mine is on comprehensive feed balancer. It has a higher protein content for muscle building. Topspec joint balancer is good too, both as a preventative and a overall conditioner for joints :) (my heavy horse is on the latter)

Have tried top spec , horse and pony direct performance balancer, equimins ( brought my horse out in a rash ) baileys lo-cal and equilibra , and my horse looks best on equilibra which is also one of the cheapest.
He's put topline on and shine, he is however a poor dooer .
