I've got the horses at home and would like to change bedding from straw to something that will compost easily and fast so I can start on my garden in earnest.

What is the best bedding for this? Can I use wood pellets or does it need to be something like flax or hemp?

I found that megazorb is beter than anything else. Wood pellets are better than shavings but not as good as megazorb.

Flax breaks down more quickly than anything else, I know people who put it straight on the garden. Wood pellets are ok, but by the nature of them they look broken down before they are truly 'composted'.

Apparently Aubiose (sp) composts within a matter of weeks! I know that shavings is the worst for composting, but straw isn't great either. Beyond that I'm no help, sorry.

We have used aubiose (hemp) for years. It composts down to crumbly compost within 4 months unlike wood shavings which take forever. Another one to consider is Aquamax wood pellets which also compost down very quickly.
